Organic farming environment
The shrimp you would eat with a clear conscience

Because we are  Healthy food lovers  and because overfishing is a major threat to our oceans we strongly believe that and sustainable aquaculture is the only viable option. We venture into organic shrimp farming since 1989.

« The role of organic agriculture, wether in farming, processing, distribution is to sustain and enhance the health of ecosystems and organisms from the smallest in the soil to human beings » IFOAM

We pride ourselves in investing time, money, energy to ensure environmental standards for mangrove protection and production are met. The Organic label also ensures mangrove replanting, limiting stock densities and strict health and feeding guidelines.

We adhere to very strict standarts  and se land-based pond systems. Unique to our farming systems, we utilize a mixture of fresh stream from the zambezian river and ocean-water from the indian Ocean, resulting in “brackish” water. This technique contributes to the signature taste of our prawns.

Our huge ponds of 10 ha each allows us to farm at  very low densities (6 to 8 prawns per cubic meter). Located in tropical climates, our prawn grow in more natural habitats, with the absence of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, growth hormones or antibiotics during production.

In order to ensure the freshness of the product we have bult a processing plant by our ponds. Our prawns get to the processing unit in less than an hour !

We are passionate about learning every day the importance our commitment to do the right thing ! An organic product may be more costly but when you factor in the cost of cleaning up the environment and the cost of replenishing the fish in the oceans, organic becomes a lot cheaper for the society.

The rise in popularity in organic foods in not just a passing fad. We are glad to be the first certified black tiger farm according to the European Label by Ecocert.
